A talk on Healthy and Happy Periods

Zebar school organized a session  on Menstrual Hygiene and Awareness in order to help the female students of grade 6 embrace this phase of womanhood. Our guest speaker was leading gynaecologist Dr Gayatri Ravval, who is also a Zebar parent. She is a Gynaecologist and a certified counsellor in adolescent health and is currently the medical officer at Ahmedabad University.

In the session, we busted some myths about periods, and Dr Raval spoke about vaginal health, keeping the vagina clean, and choosing good quality sanitary products. In addition, she explained in detail topics like PMS (premenstrual syndrome), menstrual hygiene products like tampons and menstrual cups as well as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome and vaginal discharge). Ms Raval explained to our students why one should not use painkillers during menstruation.

As a final lesson, Dr. Raval taught grade 6 students how to maintain their health during menstruation by doing light pelvic exercises. Students then discussed their health and diet concerns regarding their menstrual cycle. As a result of this session, we hope our students will have a healthy and happy period in their teens.

Bullying means where a person is verbally or physically threatened or assaulted

Bullying means where a person is verbally or physically threatened or assaulted. It also means making a person feel a real or perceived power imbalance.

We at Zebar have no bullying policy. Keeping this in mind ‘Anti bullying week’ was taken upon to make sure no student in the campus is bullied.

Children made posters with slogans against the menace of bullying.

They did activities in their scrap books, where they wrote about ways to stop the bully from troubling the students.

The children were given a clear idea about the difference between teasing, harassing, and bullying. As these terms are often used interchangeably.

This Life Skill activity gave children an idea about what the person goes through when bullied and they learnt that no one should be bullied.
